NCA Girls Volleyball
The 2009-2010 school year sees the return of another NCA alum as Lucy Martinez, class of 2004, heads back to the Eagle’s Nest for her first year as the Varsity Volleyball head coach. Although probably most known for her skills on the basketball court, Coach Martinez is no stranger to the volleyball net, playing for the Eagles’ varsity squad all four years of high school and even during her 8th grade year.
Assisted by her sister, Debbie Martinez, class of 2003, Coach Martinez expects great things for the coming season, looking to add one more notch on the Eagles’ belt with a win in the Regional quarter-finals. To achieve this goal, she plans to focus on helping a team already stacked with talent become even better, concentrating primarily on conditioning drills while also refining fundamental on-the-court skills and healthy eating habits.

“This is going to be a good season,” says experienced player Monica Sapp (10). “It takes a lot of hard work and dedication because Coach Martinez keeps us running!” Other returning veterans include Samantha Francois (12), Kathryn White (12), and Brittany LaFrance (12) while newcomers Jenniffer Dorcinvil (9) and Nicole McCray (10) strut their stuff for the first time on the Eagle’s court. Rounding out the team are Tiffany Taylor (11), Yokemmiya Doyle (10), Destiny Wright (10), Tiye Powell (9), Brittenay Tucker (8), and Quintina Killings (6), all of whom are looking forward to making this ’09 season their best yet.
Go Eagles!
