Our Mission

Northwest Christian Academy exists for the purpose of assisting the local church in fulfilling Christ’s command: “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” This institution is built upon the framework of Reformed theology and seeks to provide a biblical worldview to equip students to advance the kingdom of God.

Goodbye

The senior class has definitely become an important part of NCA, and it will be difficult to say goodbye. They are a unique quirky bunch that has certainly brought a flair and excitement to the school. Their take charge attitude and smoothness in the courts and books has left many inspired. The senior’s commendable skill in the classroom and community has set the tone for the rest of the school. Often times you don’t realize how important someone is until it’s finally time to say goodbye.

Through their formation of school clubs and their contributions to the community, the seniors have implemented programs that are not only beneficial to the student body, but are also an encouragement to challenge the process and bring change to NCA.

Joshua Sixon or ‘Sixon’ as he is commonly known has been involved in the ASCI speech competition, Math Olympics, and spelling bee. Through his love for math, he created the math club. The math club was created for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade to prepare them for the upcoming Math Olympics. Sixon also created Project Sight Seekers where he collected the old frames of glasses.

Through a trip to grandparent’s house four summers ago, Kathryn White discovered that her grandparents collected can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. In that a spark had been ignited. “When I came home, I was very inspired to get involved in any way possible. I first went to Mrs. Price, the guidance counselor, who encouraged me to do some research. McDonalds only gives the Ronald McDonald House about fifteen percent of their yearly budget. To make up for the other eighty-five percent, they depend on the donations and volunteers. Therefore, I began collecting can tabs and encouraged others to help in any way they could.” Kathryn went on to collect at least 105 pounds of can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Doing this project impacted Kathryn’s life, because to her it not only allowed her to help families, but it made her realize there are other people who need help more than she does.

In addition, Isaacs Simmons has created the Comedy club to foster his passion and joy for bring laughter to everyone. Although all of the others seniors have not created a community project, they have given support and enlisted in an effort to help their fellow classmates. Leadership is a quality that runs through the veins of these seniors leading them not only to enact change, but inspires others through their example to also step it up.

Even though these students are heavily involved in bringing change to their community, they are dedicated to their schoolwork. They excel in the classroom not accepting less than their best. Eleven out of fifteen students have qualified for bright futures, and two, Kathryn White and Joshua Sixon, were nominated for Silver Knights. Many of them are also a part of the National Honor Society. The NHS is heavily involved in the thanksgiving drive, operation Christmas child, and other charitable donations. “My fondest memory of NHS,” Faryn Brown says, “is the help that I contributed to those in need; everything was memorable for me.”Their academic achievements in the classroom serve as an example to many as to what can be accomplished with hard work.

Academic success has not deterred their success on the courts, but has seemed to make them more determined. Bunky Williams, Evel Cevere, and Brenton Moreau were all participants in the basketball team. Even though they may be leaving the Eagle’s Nest, they will always have the memories and values they learned that will always follow them. Team Captain Bunky Williams stated that, “the role as the team captain influenced me by allowing me to have and show great leadership qualities on and off court. The responsibility was very good for me because I had to be a leader at all times by acting responsibly by showing up on time for games, practice and school.” The boys however aren’t the only ones who dominated the courts and brought their A-game. The girls were fierce, spiking and diving for every ball necessary on the volleyball court. Kathryn White, Samantha François, Brittany LaFrance, Brittney Monestime, Glenda Dieuville, and Beatrice Julmis were all on the volleyball team. Even though they are not in the action of the game, Kristy Renazile and Kathryn has cheered and encouraged many of the sports teams through their enthusiasm as cheerleaders.

The seniors are certainly a triple threat. They are smart, talented, and driven, but are they ready to leave the nest?

Samantha Thompson has attended NCA for eight years and believes she has been fully equipped and prepared to enter college. “A value that I have gained from NCA that will follow me for a long time is that we should be careful of what we let enter our minds and lives (music and television for example). I do think I am ready for college. I do not have all the answers but I believe I can do well in college. When it comes to defending my faith, I don't think I will always have the answers but I can always try while I continue to grow in my faith and learn more. I believe I can survive in the real world. I know it would be a struggle at times but with the help of the Lord, I believe I can get through the struggles.”

First year student Reina Wilson also believes that she can survive college as well. NCA has been able to provide her with an education that she hasn’t been able to receive other schools.

Many of the teachers have shared many fond moments with the seniors and for many it will be difficult to let them go. Mrs. White, their class sponsor, has been like a mother hen to them. Throughout their entire high school career she has been a source of encouragement to them. To them she has this to say: “It has been my pleasure to work with and love you through the years. Although I don't want to see you go, I know you are all ready for the next chapter in your lives. It will be exciting to keep up with all that God is doing through you as you become adults. Go change the world. I Love you!!!” -

Weeping ensued on their final day of class leaving many of us nostalgic. It will be weird not seeing them in the halls or goofing off by the lockers. Congrats class of 2010 you will be missed by all.
